New to the site

my great grandmother was a witness and i was in the truth in my young childhood.
my mother is disfellowshipped and i am currently studying with my husband, who knew nothing about the truth but had been very good at studying and has great knowledge about the bible.

my mom is leaving wtbs!!!
she apparently celebrated christmas with dad but even that was just a tip of the iceberg.

Will you always see yourself as an "Ex-JW"?
by Gayle ini guess that's how it will always be for me,,i've moved on,,all my family is "out' thankfully,,but i spent too many years there, and i won't ever become a member of a religion,,in jest, you are my "church" i guess.

It's a matter of which people are still in your life that make you define yourself as an exJW. If there were no longer any ties to it, there would be no need to define yourself as such. It would be easier to move on to seeking a new identity with little or no repercussions. When someone leaves other faiths there isn't a great a need to define themselves as ex christian, ex catholic etc. because such folks arn't usually met with opposition and family divisions on account of it.

What do elders talk about behind closed doors?
by JH injust about every time i went to the kingdom hall, i used to see a few elders gather in the 2nd school and close the door and stay there maybe 10 or 15 minutes.
oh, what they were doing seemed so important... .
what the heck do they talk about behind these closed doors?.

They are talking about the love and purity of Jehovah's wonderful organization and seeking ways to let others know the joy and peace they have attained through Holy spirit and intense study! NOT!!!! Closed doors and lack of transparency, says conspiracy, conniving, and back biting. You have to maintain that image of purity somehow, while seeking to destroy others through gossip. Besides how else do you expect them to keep control when they havn't the faintest idea what love is.

I don't have to watch it. I already know what's happening. There's a bunch of men running around on a feild, most likely astro turf, and they are throwing an inflatable projectile towards one another while grunting and sweating. How am I doing? was I right?

3:00 till half time time. . If time is running out, I guess that's good news. I never thought women could get so excited over football. That is, what they're playing isn't it? Maybe I'll start watching women's synchronized swimming.

I think one has no choice ,but to see themselves this way, as a means of keeping your gaurd up. This has to be this way, because the witnesses are relentless and are always seeking an opening, through weakness of character, or even moments of depression and tradgedy. It was a sort of family that we were rejected from, and therfore the shunning is now in reverse. They must know that actions have consequences, and we are not all victims and don't need them.

Choice between watching the superbowl and going to a meeting isn't what I'd call a choice. I think I'd get more excitement reading Javascript.
